Final report from the week-long “Six Ways To Die” workshop.

The Hunger team envisaged a “kitchen in a box” system which could be used from the early stages of a crisis through to the transitional housing stage some years after the event.

The expandable kitchen includes an energy-efficient wood stove (like the rocket stove) and could include a solar cooking option. It would ship in an insulated box which could be used as a retained heat cooker (see http://integratedsolarcooking.com), or for insect and rodent-proof food storage, possibly with ice or other cooling if available. The precise details of what shipped in the kitchen box could be standardized for some geographical or cultural area, or a system which works fairly well in most places could be standardized.

    flattr this!
