Ugh. The moral cracks, they show…

Firstly, you have to turn on the subtitles. I didn’t know that Youtube did subtitles, but it does. When the video starts to play, press the upwards pointing arrow icon in the bottom right corner, then click the CC button in the menu that pops up and turn captioning in English on.
Secondly, you don’t want to watch this. It’s a war story. Terrible coincidence, just one more war story, but hugely impactful.
There’s a very terrible logic to what is unfolding: “a land without a people for a people without a land.”
To say that this cannot end well is the height of understatement. One billion people feel ethnic and religious loyalty to the Palestinians in one degree or another. The five million or so Jewish residents of Israel cannot expect to stem their wrath forever. When it breaks their behavior invites horrific reprisals.
I’m usually hopeful for the world. Most problems seem soluble given time and intelligence. But I fear that the mistakes made by the previous generations of Israeli political strategists may doom millions to die. The roller-coaster has slid from the rails and I don’t think anyone knows how to stop it.
The video is ugly. But the coincidence is that the pain was seen on television, not that it occurred. That it occurred, that was a statistical certainty. Such is war.
