Threats of martial law on bailout plan

Rep. Brad Sherman, D-California says that some representatives were told that if the bailout bill failed, there would be a catastrophic financial crisis followed by martial law.
Things that make you go… hm…
Ron Paul… “America is going bankrupt… We’re in the same position the soviets were… we can’t support the empire any more…”
Good finds. It’s pretty amazing how easily and transparently Congress was cajoled and bribed. It’s all right there out in the open: the new bill included tax breaks for a number of special interests dear to individual congressmen or their constituents, such as $2M for kids’ toy archery arrow makers, $192M for Puerto Rico rum, and $397M for film and TV production companies.
Buying 57 votes is easy, it seems: just use the stick and carrot. The sky is falling and we’ll have martial law, versus millions in tax breaks for your pet projects or business interests. Not to mention the added incentive of intense peer pressure to toe the party line.
