Yeah, these are very good and serious points.

I'm somewhat lame on this stuff. I'm focusing on structural problems. I see the logic of the Theresas, but it doesn't move me.

Just my perspective. I think in numbers.

Hi Vinay,

Thanks for the response. I understand what you are talking about here. I never thought you could go there and fix the situation.. that's a lot to put on one's shoulders but my thinking was about showing people that there's outsiders that care, showing them there's some hope, giving them some tools and ideas to be able to work with.

It happens that my wife is Peruvian and whilst her family and friends are all fine as they live in Lima, many injured and their families are flooding to Lima to be treated at the public hospitals. Those people waiting at the hospital couldn't sit around, pack a lunch, some blankets before they left etc.. So my wife and I sat down and wrote a list of some of the basics people those people will need.. to provide some dignity at minimum - I guess it's as Mother Theresa used to say when people would ask her why she brought people who were almost dead to her in Calcutta - As one man once said "I have lived a life lower than a dog but now, I can die as a man". So, we worked out a little 'pack' for the people that could provide them some basics while they are at the hospital waiting on their injured relatives. I'm new at this, I live in Sydney, Australia where the biggest natural disaster we have ever had is that people can't water their own lawns! So, I can't saw we have it right but so far, close to 100 people have experienced the effects of 5 people (my wive's family are doing all the hard work) who cared.

The gas wood burner inspired me.. and also the pepsi can burner I found.. So, I'd like to share these videos with you in case you weren't aware of them. They discuss hydrogen combustion using a standard engine not only in vehicles but also for emergency response.

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Hydrogen+Fuel+-+Engine+Fundamentals&search=Search

There's about an hour or so in total. He discusses running the hydrogen generator, which can provide heat, electricity, clean water & oxygen in emergency situations.. from something as small as a 5hp lawnmower engine -

"somewhere between a Ghandi and a Buckminster Fuller" two people I admire a lot. I appreciate you have put this stuff into the public domain. As you may have seen, my blog is basically focused on all things open source. I also run a web hosting business and through that, we are sponsoring the Open Source Green Vehicle - http://www.osgv.org and another project that has grabbed my interest a lot is the Open Source Bicycle project.

http://www.worldbike.org/what-open-source-bicycle-design

Finally, I think it worth mentioning William Kwamkamba - http://www.williamkamkwamba.typepad.com/ a 14yo from Malawi who built a electricity producing windmill for his family from so little he had available to him.

I like your work and I'd love to see where it develops from here - I'll definitely be watching your blog feed from now on.

Regards
